Prestwick Golf Club, the Birthplace of the Open Championship, welcomes all golfers from around the world to come and enjoy the testing historic Links. Situated on a stretch of golfing terrain unrivalled in the world, Prestwick is less than a couple of hours travel from all the other Open Championship courses in Scotland and is a must play for any discerning lover of the game. Founded in 1851 – Prestwick started the Open Championship in 1860. The course was originally 12 holes and became 18 in 1883. The club has hosted 24 opens – the last one in 1925. A classic links course carved out of the dunes – very tight and demanding – A number of blind seconds shots. Feature holes no 3, called the ‘Cardinal’ and no 17, called the ‘Alps’. – Wonderful holes that challenge even the best player. ‘Prestwick is a course once played, never forgotten.’
