Ireland Golf Courses

Golf Vacations In Ireland – Guaranteed Tee Times

Ireland is now a major destination for international golfers. There are many options for top class Links and Parkland Golf.

Golf Ireland is now geared up for the International Golfer and the Ireland Golf Packages on offer are amongst the best in Europe.

Ireland has many spectacular Links Courses, many with dramatic sand dunes and beautiful coastlines. The country also has some wonderful parkland courses in the central area.

Ireland Golf Courses by Area

The North and East – The far north and east include many outstanding golf courses such as Royal County Down, Royal Portrush, Portstewart, Castlerock and Baltray County Louth.

Royal County Down is consistently highly ranked as one of the major Links Courses in the golfing world and was the host to the 2007 Walker Cup.

Royal Portrush, which is in the same area as Portstewart and Castlerock, is the only Northern Ireland golf course to have hosted The Open.

The North West – An Ireland Golf package simply would not be complete without playing the northwest courses such as Ballyliffin, Enniscrone, Rosapenna and Rosses Point County Sligo.

These courses are excellent pure links and at a less expensive cost compared to some of the better known popular courses. The affordable green fees for golf times here do not detract from their undoubted quality.

Dublin & the East – One of the country’s oldest courses is Royal Dublin and this continues to be one of the most popular courses in this area.

Close to Dublin are the Links courses at Portmarnock and The European Club and also the magnificent parkland courses at the K Club and Druids Glen. Dublin is well worth the visit to combine sightseeing with excellent golf venues.

The South West – Ireland’s south west is extremely popular for Golf Packages in Ireland with Ballybunion Old Links, Tralee, Waterville, Lahinch, Doonbeg and Old Head amongst the most popular courses.

Ballybunion Old Links is the most popular golf course in Ireland for visiting golfers and the sister course, Ballybunion Cashen should not be missed if playing the Old Links.

Tralee is very close and Waterville Golf Links is not far away on the wonderful coastline of the Ring of Kerry.

Old Head is a newer course and situated in the far south on the promontory at Kinsale which is the gourmet capital of Ireland; the spectacular setting of this golf links is well worth the visit.

Lahinch and Doonbeg are north of Ballybunion, over the Shannon estuary. Lahinch is a classic Links and one of the oldest in Ireland. Just south of Lahinch is the Greg Norman designed Doonbeg with its spectacular mountainous sand dunes. The course was opened in 2001 and is quickly becoming one of the most popular venues in the area.

Some of the more popular parkland courses, if you wish a break from the punishing links, are Mount Juliet, the K Club and Druids Glen. The K Club in Kildare was host to the Ryder Cup in 2006.

Why not let Golf Vacations UK set up your trip to Ireland or why not couple this with a golfing trip to involve Ireland and Scotland, England or Wales. Ireland has more to offer than just golf, with many places of interest and spectacular scenery.
