Turnberry & West – Dundonald Links – 6,725yds – Par 72
The West coast of Scotland is famous for its stunning championship links and Dundonald Links sits right up there alongside the very best of them. Opened in 2003, Kyle Phillips designed a modern day classic links which has the feel of a course 100 years older and offers challenges and enjoyment in equal measure.
Dundonald Links is located at the very heart of Ayrshire’s golf coast near the Open Championship venues Royal Troon, Prestwick and Turnberry, just 10 minutes from Prestwick Airport and half an hour from Glasgow.
As early as 2008, Dundonald was chosen as the venue for the first stage of the European Tour Qualifying School and it continued to host this important tournament until 2011. In 2012, it was the turn of the Seniors to test their skills against Dundonald’s challenges when the course played host to Senior Opening Qualifying. The prestigious Boys Amateur Championship came to Dundonald in 2014, before the course welcomed some of the world’s best female golfers for the Aberdeen Asset Management Ladies Scottish Open in 2015 and 2016.
The arrival of The Aberdeen Asset Management Scottish Open in 2017 heralds a new chapter in Dundonald’s history. In recent years the Tour has taken this prestigious Championship to some iconic links courses across Scotland. Dundonald Links is the latest to host what is always a very strong field focused on winning one of the European Tour’s flagship events. Its coastal setting and fabulous condition makes the course ideal for summer and winter golf in Scotland.
