Open Championship Ten Day Tour

This tour features all of the Open Championship Courses with the exception of Royal St. Georges. This course can be added on application, however it would considerably extend the length of your tour. The accommodation used in this itinerary is a mixture of luxury, deluxe and first class. Hotels can be changed, this is merely a suggested itinerary. Non-golfers should visit our 'Places to See' section.


Day 1

Arrive in Glasgow and transfer to the luxurious Turnberry Hotel for the first two nights of your stay. Breakfast and dinner are included in your stay. Relax after your long journey.

Day 2

Today you will play Turnberry's Ailsa Open Championship course the scene of the 'Duel in the Sun' between Tom Watson and Jack Nicklaus

Day 3

After breakfast you will travel the short distance to Royal Troon where you will play the Open Championship course, scene of Justin Leonard's victory in 1997.
You will then make the journey across the centre of Scotland to St. Andrews, the home of golf. You will stay at The Rusacks Hotel, which is in a prime position overlooking the 1st and 18th fairways of The Old Course. Breakfast and dinner are included in your stay.

Day 4

Today is the highlight of any golfers dream. This is the day you will play The Old Course at St. Andrews. In association with 'The Old Course Experience', hosts and hostesses, ensuring that you have a great day will look you after. You will be allocated prime starting times on The Old Course and allowed unlimited use of the Links clubhouse and luxury changing areas. You will be given a patisserie lunch and complimentary drinks in The Clubhouse Restaurant. Later, after your round, you will be served a Silver Service dinner in the clubhouse.
Prior to playing the Old Course, each player will receive Old Course Experience bag tags, scorecards and a guide to playing the course. You will later receive an official souvenir gift and certificate confirming your achievement on the Old Course.

Day 5

Today you will make the short journey over the Firth of Tay to Carnoustie, where you will play the Open Championship course, venue for the 1999 Open. This course is one of the greatest tests of golf in Scotland and has arguably the hardest finishing holes of any Open Championship course.
After your round you will make you're way south over the Firth of Forth to Scotland's capital city of Edinburgh where you will stay in The King James Thistle Hotel for the next two nights. Breakfast is included in your stay.
OR - You may wish to stay in The Marine Hotel in North Berwick, close to Muirfield and Gullane.

Day 6

Make the short journey east to Gullane where you will play one of the Championship courses in the area.
The Gullane and North Berwick areas are awash with fine links courses and include Muirfield, Gullane, North Berwick West Links and Dunbar.

*Please note that tee-times at Muirfield are severely restricted and that visitor play is only allowed on Tuesdays and Thursdays.

After your round make your way back to your hotel before planning your evening in Edinburgh.

Day 7

Today, after breakfast you will leave your hotel and make the journey south into the north of England. On this golf-free day, on your way south, you may wish to visit the beautiful English Lake District, the home of William Wordsworth. This is one of the most popular English tourist attractions and is well worth a visit.
On arrival at your destination you will check into the Preston Marriott for the next three nights of your stay. Breakfast is included in your stay.

Day 8

Today you will make the 30-minute journey to Southport where you will play the Royal Birkdale Open Championship course, scene of Mark O'Meara's 1998 victory. Again this is one of the best links courses in the world and you will have a memorable day.

Day 9

Today is your last day of golf and it is fitting that you should finish your golfing holiday on one of the greatest links courses in the British Isles. You will play
Royal Lytham Open Championship course where past winners have been the likes of Johnny Miller, Seve Ballesteros and Gary Player. Lunch in the famous clubhouse, where Player played his 'off the wall' shot, is included.

Day 10

Time to make your way to your airport of departure. You may wish to return to Glasgow or fly from Manchester International Airport.
