Day 1
Arrive in Glasgow and collect
the Hire Car of your choice. You will then make the short journey
to Turnberry where you will be staying in the Turnberry
Hotel for the next two nights. Take
today to relax in this beautiful, world famous 5 star hotel, before
tomorrow's golf.
Breakfast and dinner are included in your stay.
Day 2
This morning, after a hearty
Scottish breakfast, you will play the Open Championship Turnberry Ailsa Course. The 'Duel under the sun' on the Ailsa Course,
between Watson and Nicklaus will always be remembered. In the
afternoon you will play the Arran, sister course. This is a very
good golf course with many testing holes.
Non- Golfers throughout this
tour are catered for in our 'Places to See' Section and an itinerary
for them will be suggested on application.
Day 3
Today, after breakfast, you
will leave the delights of the Turnberry
Hotel and travel the short distance
to Troon, where you will play the Troon
Open Championship course, scene of Justin
Leonard's victory in 1997. If you wish you may then play the Portland
course before making your way to The
Gleneagles Hotel (The Palace of the
Glens) for your overnight stay.
Day 4
Play today on the
Gleneagles Kings Course, arguably the most picturesque and beautiful
course in Scotland. This course has hosted many championships
including the Scottish Open. The course is always in excellent
condition and has magnificent views. It is a great test of and
very enjoyable to play.
After your round take to the road and travel to Inverness where
you will be staying at The
Kingsmills Hotel for the next two nights.
Day 5
Make the relatively short
journey north to Dornoch, where today you will play 'The Star
of The North' Royal Dornoch. This is a magnificent Links golf course in
a marvelous setting. Many of the world's top golfers have made
the pilgrimage to Royal Dornoch and have since sang its praises
and returned on many occasions.
Day 6
After breakfast and preparing
your luggage leave the comfort of the Kingsmills
Hotel and travel to Nairn where you
will play the Nairn Championship
course. This course is a great test
of golf and a worthy neighbour of Royal Dornoch. It has hosted
many major Scottish competitions and has the deserved reputation
as one of Scotland's best golf courses.
After your round continue your journey to Aberdeen where you will
be staying for one night at The
Caledonian Thistle Hotel.
Day 7
Today you will play either
Royal Aberdeen or Cruden
Bay, whichever you have chosen on your
itinerary. They are equally magnificent golf courses and highly
rated by all who play them. After your round you will drive down
the coast to the home of golf St. Andrews where you will be staying
at the Rusacks
Hotel, wonderfully situated alongside
the 18th fairway of the Old Course and having fine views of the
start and finish of the most famous golf course in the world.
This will be your base for the next three nights. It may be that
you wish to stay for these three nights in the famous Old Course
Hotel, overlooking the 17th Road Hole.
If so a supplement will apply.
Day 8
Today, after a good breakfast,
you will retrace your steps north around the coast for the short
journey to Carnoustie, venue for the 1999 Open Championship. Here
you will play the championship course known as 'The Big Shaggy
Monster'. This course is one of the hardest tests in golf and
in the writers opinion has the hardest finishing holes of any
of the British Open Championship golf courses.
Day 9
Today is the highlight of
any golfers dream. This is the day you will play The
Old Course at St. Andrews. In association
with The Old Course Experience, hosts and hostesses, ensuring
that you have a great day will look you after. You will be allocated
prime starting times on The
Old Course and allowed unlimited use
of the Links clubhouse and luxury changing areas. You will be
given a patisserie lunch and complimentary drinks in The Clubhouse
Restaurant. Later, after your round, you will be served a Silver
Service dinner in the clubhouse.
Prior to playing the Old Course, each player will receive Old
Course Experience bag tags, scorecards and a guide to playing
the course. You will later receive an official souvenir gift and
certificate confirming your achievement on the Old Course.
Later you will be able to relax in the comforts of The Rusacks
and relive your round shot by shot.
Day 10
Today you will play either
the New or Jubilee course at St. Andrews. Both are great courses and very
enjoyable to play. After your round you will transfer to the historical
capital city of Scotland, Edinburgh, where you will stay for the next two nights
at the majestic Balmoral
Hotel. The hotel stands on Edinburgh's
famous Princes Street and is one of the most luxurious hotels
in Scotland.
Day 11
After a hearty Scottish breakfast,
make your way along the East Coast to Gullane where you will play Muirfield,
scene of many British Open Championships and voted as one of the
top ten courses in the world. Times at Muirfield are very restricted
and it may be that your tour has to be adjusted to cater for this
course - early booking is essential. If it is not possible to
play Muirfield then times will be arranged on the very testing
Gullane No.1 course, used as a qualifier when the Open is at Muirfield.
Day 12
Unfortunately it is time to
return to Glasgow for your flight home.
It must be stressed that the
format of this tour is not 'Cast in Stone'. Hotels/Courses/Routes/Number
of days - can all be changed to suit your requirements. It may
make your golfing holiday less or more expensive. Do not hesitate
to enquire and we will give you the best possible advice on your
requirements.
All golf is subject
to availability - Caddies can be reserved if required
