Day 2
Today you will play the
Ailsa
Open Championship course, one of the best links courses in
Scotland. Tom Watson was a past winner here after his epic battle
with Jack Nicklaus. After your round you can relax in the comfort
of your hotel before your evening meal. Non Golfers may wish to
discover the Burns Heritage Trail
or visit Culzean Castle.
Day 3
It is time to start the first leg of your journey.
Today you will play the Open Championship course at Royal
Troon, the scene of Justin Leonard's victory in 1997. A testing
course, highly praised by many of the world's top golfers.
After your round you will make your way to Scotland's capital
city, Edinburgh, where you will be staying for the next two nights
at the 5 star Caledonian
Hotel, in the city centre.
Day 4
Today, after a hearty Scottish breakfast, you will
make the short journey along the East Coast to North
Berwick where you will play the Championship links, qualifier
for the Open at Muirfield and one of the country's top courses.
Non Golfers will find plenty to occupy themselves in the City
of Edinburgh whether it be history sightseeing or shopping.
Day 5
Today
make the same journey to play a second round of golf in the Gullane
or North Berwick area. This is the home of championship golf courses
such as Muirfield, Gullane, North Berwick West Links and Dunbar.
After your round you will
make your way to the 'Palace of the Glens' Gleneagles Hotel. You will stay at
this Splendid 5 star, Internationally renowned resort, for the next three
nights. Gleneagles is in one of the most beautiful parts of inland Scotland and
the scenery is quite magnificent, matched by the quality of the resort's golf
courses.
Day 6
Today you will play the
Kings
Course. If the scenery does not take your breath away then
the condition of this excellent golf course will. Many championships
have been held here and many great players have graced the fairways.
The Scottish Open has been held here many times, traditionally
in the week immediately prior to the Open Championship. It is
a wonderful place to play golf and the resort could easily be
classed as a golfer's paradise. After your round you can relax
in the sumptuous surroundings of the hotel with it's many facilities.
Non Golfers may wish to visit William 'Braveheart' Wallace's monument
or one of the suggested sights in our 'Places to see' section.
Day 7
Today you will make your way to
Carnoustie
where you will play the Open Championship course known as 'The
Big Shaggy Monster', and venue for the 1999 British Open. Walter
Hagen regarded the course as the greatest in the British Isles
and one of the top three in the world. Tom Watson was the winner
when the Championship was last here in 1975 and popular demand
has resulted in its return.
Day 8
Unfortunately it is time to leave Gleneagles and
to make your way home with many happy and lasting memories.
