Montrose

Carnoustie & North East – Montrose – 6495 yds – Par 72

An Open qualifier, the Medal Course (6496 yds) is the 5th oldest in the world and a classic Scottish links, sandwiched between the town and the dunes. The short 3rd is particularly deceptive, especially when the wind blows, with an elevated green that you really must hit and hold. The shorter, tighter, and flatter Broomfield Course (4800 yds) is not so stern a test, but still requires imaginative approach play.

The Medal Course at Montrose is a majestic layout in the true traditions of Scottish Links golf and has hosted many important events in its history including the Scottish Professional Championship in 1967 and 1970, the Scottish Amateur Championship in 1975 and the British Boys’ Championship and Internationals in 1991. Because of all these factors the Links was honoured by the Royal and Ancient Golf Club in being chosen as a Final Qualifying Course for the Open Championship at Carnoustie in 1999.
